About Emily Hyland:

Emily and executive chef Matt Hyland are the co-founders of Pizza Loves Emily restaurants group, which includes Emily Brooklyn and Emily West Village in New York City, and Emmy Squared Pizza, which has twelve locations around the country. They call their pizzas “Detroit Style With a New York Twist” featuring focaccia-like dough and a frico crust (topped caramelized crispy-crunch cheese). They ship country-wide and offer online virtual pizza classes.

We’ve always meant for Emmy Squared to have a local, neighborhood feel, so I am thrilled as we expand, that Emmy’s are emerging as hopeful mainstays within small neighborhoods in other cities and I can’t wait to meet some of the neighborhood regulars when I come to visit.

Brunch

French Louie

They have one of the nicest backyard seating areas in all of Brooklyn. It is operated by Doug Crowell, who is one of the kindest people around. Nothing beats a low-key brunch here.

Brunch & Dinner

Fausto

One of my favorite pasta stops near Prospect Park. Their outdoor dining is gorgeous.

Gran Electrica

This is an awesome guac pit stop in Dumbo. They have a great backyard and are just a skip away from the waterfront, which makes for a perfect stroll after your meal.

Cocktails

Grand Army

This an old favorite of mine in Boerum Hill with stellar cocktails, a raw bar, great vibes, and a solid outdoor setup.

Sweet Treats

Ample Hills

I used to live across the street from the Ample Hills in Prospect Heights and I ate way too much of their ice cream. With just a little bit of outdoor seating, it’s a great spot to stop and grab a cone.

Good Batch

This is a great stop for coffee, sweets, and ice cream treats in Clinton Hill. It is better for a quick grab than to eat in.
